I started working for Herman's upon my discharge from the army and my commencement at Nassau Community College. I eventually went on to Stony Brook an transfered to Smith Haven. I even stayed on for a few years returning to Roosevelt Field as I began my career for a large insurer. I loved working at Herman's....I also was a bowling ball driller. I just loved all of the people I worked with, the culture, the management. They were incredibly supportive of the college kids. I really took a lot from them (not merchandise). Regrettably I have lost touch with all but one fellow. I was working Facebook tonight and decided to see if I could find anyone from the day....Googled Herman's and viola'! Some of the names I recal from both stores I worked: Tom Petersen, Rose Chin, Ed Haller, Phil Gunther, Kevin Farley (I see he has passed), Joe Esposito, Bob Heno (sp?).. I am sure I could thin of more. Dennis Lenihan...I kept in touch with him for quite a while.....and his sister, too.
